What:	99 Drums; a weekend of hands-on music and dance workshops exploring the arts, history, customs, and food of West African, Native American, Mexican, and Caribbean cultures.
Why:	99 Drums will bring together a diverse group of children ages 7-16 years old (including at-risk youth, children with disabilities and children without disabilities) to experience music and dance in a celebration of diverse cultures in a safe, inclusive environment.
When:	Friday, April 25 – Sunday, April 27, 2003. The weekend will culminate with a free public performance on Sunday afternoon at the Kansas State School for the Blind.
Where:	The Kansas State School for the Blind, 1100 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
Who:	Children ages 7-16 from across the state of Kansas and the Kansas City metropolitan area will be treated to hands-on workshops and performances by artist/educators from the Traditional Music Society, the Pelathe Community Resource Center, Fiesta Mexicana, Hmong Dancers and Milton Gray. Adult volunteers are needed (in four-hour shifts) to accompany the children from workshop to workshop .
Cost:	The fee is only $35 per child (includes 11 workshops, 6 meals, 2 overnight stays and free performances by professional artists). Some scholarships are available on a first-come/first-served basis.
How:	99 Drums is presented by Accessible Arts, Inc., Kansas State School for the Blind, Kansas Arts Commission, VSA arts, Greater Kansas City Community Foundation—Community Arts Fund, Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation, Theresa Foundation, Traditional Music Society, Fiesta Mexicana, YWCA of Greater Kansas City, KanArts, and St. Paul's Breakfast.
