99 Drums Music & Cultural Camp

What is 99 Drums?
A weekend of interactive music, dance, and creative dramatics workshops exploring the arts, history, customs, and food of West African, Native American, and Caribbean cultures. Workshops and performances will be presented by professional artists from the Traditional Music Society (Bird Fleming, Artistic Director), Accessible Arts, and storytellers.
Who Can Attend?
Children ages 9-15 from the Kansas City metropolitan area and across the state of Kansas.

When Does It Happen?
8:30 AM Saturday, April 21 through
4:00 PM Sunday, April 22, 2007
How Much Does It Cost?
$45 if registered by April 13th;
$60 after April 13th on a space available basis.

Cost includes 10 workshops, 4 meals and an overnight stay! (Scholarships are available; must request in writing by April 13th)

Children with and without disabilities celebrate the music and dance of diverse cultures in an inclusive environment. Participants may spend Saturday night at the Kansas State School for the Blind (overnight adult supervision is provided). Families are invited to a free public performance on Sunday, April 22nd at 2:00 PM in the gym. Children will be finished with all activities at 4:00 PM, Sunday afternoon.

SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS!
Please fill out the form on the next page and send it with your check to the address at the bottom right. A packet will be sent to you with release forms needing your signature. It is our intention to accommodate children of all abilities, but we need your help. If your child requires one-on-one attention, no registration fee will be charged for a personal attendant. Accessible Arts cannot provide personal attendants; families must arrange for them. Children using wheelchairs must be able to transfer by themselves or the
family must provide a personal attendant (personal attendants also need to send in a registration form). Nursing staff will be on hand to administer medications.
