99 Drums Music & Cultural Camp

What is 99 Drums?
A weekend of interactive music and dance workshops
exploring the arts, history, customs, and food of West African, Native American, Caribbean and Middle Eastern cultures. Workshops and performances will be presented by professional artists from the Traditional Music Society (Bird Fleming, Artistic Director), Accessible Arts, and storytellers.
Who Can Attend?
Children ages 9-15 from across the state of Kansas and
the Kansas City metropolitan area.

When Does It Happen?
8:30 AM Saturday, April 22 to
4:30 PM Sunday, April 23, 2006
How Much Does It Cost?
$45 if registered by April 14th;
$60 after April 14th on a space available basis.

Cost includes 10 workshops, 4 meals and an overnight stay! (Scholarships are available; must request in writing by April 14th)

99 Drums will bring together a group of children with and without disabilities to experience music and dance in a celebration of diverse cultures in an inclusive environment. Participants may stay Saturday night on the campus of the Kansas State School for the Blind (overnight adult supervision will be provided). There will be a free public performance on Sunday, April 23rd at 2:30 PM in the gym. Families and the public are invited. Children will be finished with all activities at 4:30 PM, Sunday afternoon.

SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS!
Please fill out the form on the next page and send it with your check to the address at the bottom right. A packet will be sent to you with release forms needing your signature. It is our intention to accomodate children of all abilities, but we need your help. If your child requires one-on-one attention, no registration fee will be charged for a personal attendant. Accessible Arts cannot provide personal attendants; families must arrange for them. Children uUniversal Accessibility Symbolsing wheelchairs must be able to transfer by themselves or the family must provide a personal attendant (personal attendants also need to send in a registration form). Nursing staff will be on hand to administer medications.
